All of Camp Wright's traditional resident camp programs include opportunities to participate in a variety of activities, including boating, sports, archery, arts & crafts, drama, dance, nature study and more. We balance longstanding Camp Wright traditions with new and innovative activities each session.
Our specialty camp programs offer all the fun of our traditional camp programs, with extra time and activities devoted to specific experiences.
Senior High Leadership (SHL) is the first step in the journey to becoming a Camp Wright Counselor in Training. This session helps campers develop skills important for work at camp, peer mediation, school and community leadership. A trip to a ropes course, a service project, and evening program planning for our Junior Campers are highlights of this special session. Our program focuses on servant leadership as Jesus taught. For campers having completed grades 9 - 11.
Counselor
in Training Program
Counselors in Training (CIT) are young adults who have completed 10th grade who volunteer during resident camp sessions. CITs work together with counselors to facilitate all aspects of camp life. Under the supervision of our adult camp staff, CITs lead activity blocks, facilitate cabin life and work with younger campers.
Camp Wrighters who have completed the Senior High Leadership program and have completed 10th grade are eligible to become Counselors in Training. An application and three references are required for consideration in this program. Applications are mailed to previous Senior High Leadership participants in December. Individuals who have not completed SHL and are interested in CIT positions should contact the Associate Director, Julia Connelly. CITs are supervised by adult staff at all times. In many cases, CITs are able to use their time at Camp Wright to fulfill student service learning requirements.
