New Diocesan Youth Organization

The Diocesan Youth Committee has created a new way to encourage youth ministry within the Diocese.  The Committee was formed, in November 2009, to consider possibilities of organizing a Diocesan wide youth program; since the absence of Shelby Morrison.  The committee has decided to de-centralize the youth programming and encourage local youth involvement by Convocation.  Under Bishop Shand’s leadership the Committee has identified four Convocational Youth leaders.  These leaders will organize their convocation to include youth programming, resources and contacts.  The idea is to raise leaders among us.  Convocations will receive monetary support for their organized convocational youth activities. 

In addition, the Diocesan Youth Committee, along with Bishop Shand, will meet quarterly to provide support with speakers, trainings and events to all youth leaders in the Diocese.  This would also include events for the youth so that they may meet each other.
