Employment Opportunities
Camp Wright hires a staff of around 80 individuals each summer to facilitate our summer camp program, maintain our facility and provide meals each day. Staff positions include: Resident and Day Camp counselors, kitchen staff, maintenance crew, program leaders (Archery, Arts & Crafts, Horse Camp, CIT Coordinators, Serendipity, etc) lifeguards and others. Most positions run from early June to mid-August. All camp counselors must be 18 years old or have completed high school.
Camp Wright provides first aid and CPR training for all staff. Additional trainings include certifications in Archery, Boating, Lifeguarding and more. All applicants need to complete an application, provide references, interview and have a background check.
Younger individuals who wish to participate on our camp staff are encouraged to apply as Counselors in Training.

Staff Skills and Experience
We are seeking a variety of individuals with experience working with children and a desire to serve young people in an outdoor environment. Work at Camp Wright allows you to use your creativity, skills and experiences. Below are some positions we offer. Internships can be coordinated. Please contact us with any questions.

What kind of experience is needed?
We are looking for people who enjoy working with children in an outdoor environment. Experience working or volunteering with children is important. Baby-sitting, coaching, teaching, tutoring, Sunday school or youth group leadership are good experiences to prepare for camp work. Working at Camp Wright requires teamwork, flexibility and a sense of humor.
What if I need special training or certifications?
Camp Wright will assist staff in obtaining specific training or certifications as activity instructors or lifeguards. Prior to the start of camp, all staff members participate in a week of orientation and training to prepare for their duties. Participation is mandatory.
What is Camp Wright life like for resident camp staff?
As a Camp Wright Resident camp counselor you will make friends, work hard, laugh hard, develop resume building skills, grow in faith, and be seen as a real life superhero by campers 7-14. We work each season to create a collaborative, fun environment to build community communication skills between our staff members. Most overnight sessions run for seven days. Resident Camp staff live in cabins with 6 - 10 campers and one other staff person or CIT.
Staff facilitate and lead small group activity blocks throughout the day (think boating, tennis, gaga, arts and crafts, drama and more!) and large group events (carnival, mock trail, scavenger hunt, talent show) in the evenings.
While you're working with our campers, we will ask you unplug from technology-- no cell phones or social media, whew. You can catch up wiht life outside of camp on your off time; counselors have 2 hours off each day and 1 - 3 days off between sessions. Staff can stay on site or leave camp on their days off. Laundry, internet, phone and lounge facilities are available on site.
What is the Day Camp schedule like?
Sessions Run from Monday- Friday, 9am-4pm. Staff report for our stand up meeting at 8:35, and are usually headed home by 4:15. We are closed on July 4. Day Camp counselors lead and facilitate large and small group activities throughout the day, assist with set up & clean up, and help facilitate our check in and check out process. A daily break is provided. Day Camp staff pack their own lunches and enjoy a camp provided snack in the afternoons.
Do I have to be Episcopalian to work at Camp Wright?
No. We welcome staff of all faiths and backgrounds. Our program is oriented toward providing Christian education and a nurturing environment to our campers and staff. Applicants should be comfortable living and working in a Christian setting. Attendance at daily devotions and weekly chapel services is expected. We value those who are working to grow in their spiritual life and can help us share God's love for each person.
